Patient Resources

How to receive services

If you or your family member is a patient, simply ask your doctor for a referral.

Your physician can call us to request behavioral health services for you if you are hospitalized with us, receiving treatment in the emergency room or in one of our outpatient clinics.

Care at Kapiʻolani

Kapiʻolani’s Behavioral Health Service (KBHS) provides compassionate care for patients who are being treated in the medical center or who are being seen in the outpatient pediatric or OB-GYN clinics.

Referrals to services at KBHS can be obtained through your treating physician at Kapiʻolani.

Because KBHS does not accept referrals from the general community, please call 808-643-4DOC (4362) if you need a recommendation for a community-based provider.

KBHS is also a training site for the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.

If you are in a mental health crisis, please call 988 or the Hawaiʻi Department of Health’s 24-hour ACCESS Crisis Line at 1-808-832-3100 (neighbor islands, call 1-800-753-6879).
