Why We’re Different

Diversity

At Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, we’re strongly committed to meeting the needs of people from all walks of life  whether they’re patients from the diverse communities we serve or our own employees. We promote recognition and respect for individual and cultural differences, and always strive to make our employees feel valued and appreciated.

Hawaiʻi stands apart: nearly one in four residents identify as multiracial.

We believe that diversity is a driver for excellence. Therefore, regardless of your age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, military/veteran status, disability status, religious belief or other defining characteristics, we value the impact your differences have on creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong.

Growth

Hawaiʻi Pacific Health is a not-for-profit institution, which means all of our earnings are reinvested into improving medical equipment and facilities. We also invest in research, education and training as well as charity care for underserved people within our island communities.

Teaching Hospital

As an organization, we are dedicated to expanding our knowledge and investigation of the most advanced methods of disease prevention in Hawaiʻi. As a teaching hospital, Kapiʻolani is at the forefront of vital medical education and community health outreach programs. The hospital also takes part in more than 260 ongoing clinical research studies and helps develop new treatments in prenatal, neonatal, children's, and women's medicine.

It is a major teaching hospital for the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi, and has assisted in training many of Hawaiʻi’s pediatric, obstetric and gynecologic doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
