Understanding Your Care Costs
We want to help you understand your health care costs so you can make informed choices about your care. We do this is through our online Patient Estimator tool and Good Faith Estimates.
These will give you an idea of what you may need to pay out of pocket before you receive care at our facilities. Hawaiʻi Pacific Health wants you to be confident about costs so you stay on top of regular check-ups and other care.
Patient Estimator Tool
Our Patient Estimator uses past billing information, fee schedules, and details from your insurance plan to give you a cost estimate. The tool is part of MyChart, our secure online patient portal. You can sign up for a MyChart account, or you can use the estimator as a guest if you prefer. You can also learn more about MyChart and how to create an account.
If you already have MyChart, you can follow our step-by-step guide to create an estimate. If you don’t have MyChart or don’t want to sign in, we also offer a guide for guests.
Your estimate is based on the services you may receive. This can include
- Doctor fees from Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group providers
- Facility fees
- Supplies
- Medications, and supplies
Some estimates may also include expected costs for things like room and board, operating rooms, or anesthesia when needed.
Please note: Services provided by doctors who are not part of the Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group are not included in the estimate, and you may receive a separate bill from those providers.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive, and also request, a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your medical service or item, if the service is scheduled at least three (3) days in advance.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
