Biography
Dr. Robert Schulz joined Straub in 1977 following residencies in general surgery at the University of Hawaii and plastic surgery at the prestigious Cronin-Brauer Clinic in Houston, Texas. Dr. Schulz is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Schulz is accomplished in aesthetic surgery, performing thousands of face-lifts, blepharoplasties (eyelid surgery) and breast surgeries, including augmentation, mastopexy, reduction and reconstruction, with extremely high patient satisfaction. He was trained in breast surgery by Dr. Thomas Cronin, who was one of the developers of the first silicone breast implant. He holds clinic monthly for Botox and soft tissue filler injections, including autologous fat transfer.Dr. Schulz also serves as the director of the Straub Burn Center, the only multidisciplinary burn treatment center in Hawaii and the Pacific Region. He has held several other leadership positions during the course of his career, including board member of both the Hawaii Pacific Health Board of Directors and Straub Medical Center Board of Directors; chief of Straub’s surgery division; and president and CEO of Straub Clinic & Hospital prior to its merger with Hawaii Pacific Health in 2001. Schulz has received numerous awards, including being named to Honolulu Magazine’s “Top Doctors” and “Best Doctors” lists every year since 2001. In 2016, he was named the recipient of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii's Physician of the Year award. He is also a faculty member at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine where he teaches third-year and fourth-year medical students.He considers communication with patients to be a critical part of success in cosmetic surgery. His emphasis on relationship building, surgical skills and managing patient expectations has contributed to his large and loyal list of satisfied patients.
