The Garden Isle Racing Association made a pit stop at Wilcox Medical Center to present a donation of $6,000. The money was raised at a recent Ladies Night drag racing event at Kauaʻi Raceway Park and, in line with the theme, will support the Women’s Center at Wilcox.

The Women’s Center is a vital resource for women across Kauaʻi. Last year, Wilcox teams completed more than 9,000 mammograms. In addition to mammography and other screenings, the Women’s Center offers comprehensive services for diagnostics and imaging.

“Wilcox Medical Center appreciates this generous donation from the Garden Isle Racing Association. Their fundraiser demonstrates how our community comes together to support each other,” said Jen Chahanovich, president and CEO of Wilcox Medical Center and CEO of Kauaʻi Medical Clinic.

The donation was raised through proceeds from gate entries and prize drawings. Today’s check presentation showcased two of the race cars featured in the drag race. Todd Burns, general manager of race sponsor Pacific Service & Development NAPA Auto Parts, said it was an honor to hold an event to help the women of Kauaʻi.

Rob Nelson, Garden Isle Racing Association board member, added, "It was a thrill to partner with Wilcox Medical Center for this great event. Mahalo to all the businesses that donated as well as all the drag racers and fans for their support."
