Hawaii Pacific Health Establishes New Medical Group for Employed Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers
Published Dec. 19, 2019
Hawaii Pacific Health has united its employed physicians and advanced practice providers together under one operational structure to form the Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group. The group, which was officially formed on Dec. 15, 2019, is a not-for-profit corporate subsidiary of Hawaiʻi Pacific Health comprised of nearly 700 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care providers.
“The formation of the Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group is a significant step forward in achieving our organization’s vision and mission of transforming health care and creating a healthier Hawaiʻi,” said Hawaiʻi Pacific Health President & CEO Ray Vara. “This group will provide a framework for increased collaboration, coordination, and consistency throughout the Hawaiʻi Pacific Health system, helping to take the high-quality care our patients receive to the next level.”
To lead this effort, Vara previously announced the appointment of Dr. Leslie Chun as CEO of the Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group. Chun joined Hawaiʻi Pacific Health in November and has been working to develop the group’s operational structure in collaboration with physician leaders throughout the organization.
“This is a very exciting time for health care providers at Hawaiʻi Pacific Health as we continue on our important journey to improve the health and well-being of our patients and community,” said Chun. “I am looking forward to working with our outstanding providers to create the premier medical group in Hawaiʻi and to make Hawaiʻi Pacific Health the best place for our patients to receive care and for our physicians to practice medicine.”
All Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group providers will now have new ID badges, email addresses, business cards and white coats identifying them as members of the medical group. Patients will continue to see their physicians as usual and should not experience any logistical changes in their normal routines when visiting clinics or departments for care or services.
Chun is currently working to create a leadership team that will be comprised of physician leaders who will oversee specialties across the Hawaiʻi Pacific Health system. In addition, Chun is hiring a chief operating officer who will focus on operations, including clinic and outpatient operations.
